Grape Exports Surpasses Expectations!

Many California growers have found a profitable niche in table grape exports. Nowadays California exports about 60% of its crop, mostly to Asia and the South Pacific region. Scarlet royals, sweet scarlets, autumn royals and red globes are the state’s most popular export varieties.

One change shippers have noticed recently is a gradual transition from red globe grapes, a traditional favorite of foreign buyers, to the same varieties that have become favorites in the U.S.

Exports are critically important to the overall health of the California table grape industry. California growers export to more than 60 countries. Targeted markets account for more than 97% of the total export volume. They include Asian markets like China, Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and European markets such as Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Australia and New Zealand are also targeted.

California is also known for its high exports of:

1. Airplane Parts

2. Almonds

3. Diamonds

4. Wines

5. Petrol Oil
